New construction on this contract comprised ‘matchcast’ concrete blocks, each weighing 25 tonnes, stitched together under water.
Blocks were precast offsite and transported to Wicklow Harbour, with all temporary works designed in-house. Concrete foundations on river bed were poured underwater, monitored by diving teams.
Repairs to existing harbour walls involving in-situ concrete and grouting to infill voids and open joints were also carried out using dive teams and specialised equipment.
