Ward & Burke are actively recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join our site team on water industry projects based in the Northwest region. The successful candidate will carry out electrical design, manage electrical installations and assist with commissioning activities on site. This position requires an individual that is comfortable in a fast-paced work environment, as well as possessing excellent problem solving, organisational and communication skills. You will have ambitions to further your management skills to lead client discussions on behalf of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical installation conforming to IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations, WIMES and client engineering specifications.
  • Attend electrical site walkarounds to identify electrical scope of works and support design team to detail tender package.
  • Liaise with panel manufacturers and electrical subcontractors.
  • Participate in the production of Risk Assessment and Method Statements and Process Impact Plans.
  • Developing Block Cable Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, SLD’s.
  • Developing Loads Schedules, Instrument Schedules, Telemetry Schedules.
  • Developing Functional Design Specifications and User Requirement Specifications.
  • Read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and document all self-created changes.
  • Adherence to Safety Health & Environmental policies and procedures and carry out all tasks in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Witness of factory & site acceptance testing for MCC panels.
  • Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales.
  • Specification and procurement of major items of electrical plant.
  • Recommend electrical installation ideas and improvements and feedback lessons learnt to design team.
  • Review sub-contractor electrical installations and prepare snag lists.
  • Prepare and complete Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Records (ITRs) before and during installations.
  • Cable calculations & lighting design.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and graduates.
  • Prepare final documentation (As-Built Drawings etc.)

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years electrical design experience (Water Industry preferred).
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • Well organised, have attention to detail, work on their own initiative and be proactive.
  • Proficient in Pro Design (AMTECH), AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to take the lead on a project.
  • Full UK / European driving licence.

Not essential, but beneficial to have:

  • CompeEX designer trained.
  • Experience with PLC’s VSD’s and Flow, pressure, temperature instrumentation.
  • Basic Profibus network knowledge.
  • HV Design experience.
  • Sewage treatment process knowledge.
  • Confined space trained.
